CAN A MEDICATION BE GOOD FOR YOU?

“I have come that they may have life, and have it in all its fullness.” (Jn 10:10)

I was once asked to do a talk on steroids to all of the local High School coaches as part of their continuing education. I turned it into a lecture on the impact and side-effect of any drug or chemical by asking one simple question to start, “Do you believe that God made your bodies and knew what He was doing?”
After we were all in agreement I asked, “So then what do you think HAS to happen any time you take any drug?”
The easy answer was, “Something really bad!”
Deductive reasoning is to draw a conclusion based on a major premise that most would assume to be true. If someone understands the major premise that God made the body, or at the very least recognizes there is a wise, natural design to the body; then you realize instantly that a drug or chemical of any kind will ultimately wreak havoc on health and function. Thus, of course a steroid or any drug will ultimately really harm you and the children. Subsequently, that entire room of coaches become patients, most of them some of my best patients ever, and many of their kids became chiropractors.
Everything and anything that interferes with the natural, God-given order is ultimately deadly and potentially disastrous. If you disrupt normal, God-intended flow and function of your body’s physiology – eventually something has to go horribly wrong. In the case of prescription, over the counter medications, and vaccines this is called a “side effect.” HOWEVER, there is no such thing as “cause and side-effect.” IT IS “CAUSE AND EFFECT.” The effects of any drug are always some kind of poor or even deadly outcome.
That being said, often the risk of the drug EFFECT is outweighed by the fact that you’re about to die or you are suffering beyond what you can bear. At that point, we’re thankful for medications. However, even when they are saving your life – they have negative consequence. It is simply some twisted half-truth to say a shot is safe.
The same can be said for anything artificial you would put in your body. I recently saw a candy manufacturer lauding the benefits of their chocolate products on human health. Chocolate does have a high ORAC value. ORAC stands for oxygen radical absorbance capacity. ORAC values measure the time an antioxidant takes to react to free radicals, as well as the amount of antioxidants contained in the specific food. Foods with a higher ORAC value, in general, have a greater antioxidant potential to protect you from problems like cancer and negative gene expression. However, processing chocolate and adding sugar makes it a chemical junk-food. It now promotes illness and completely does not prevent it. With any chemical it is always CAUSE – NEGATIVE EFFECT.
If you study any research that compares people who follow God’s principles for living, honoring God with your body, vs. those that don’t, you’ll always find the same results.  Break the law and suffer the consequences.  No matter what a Nestle Crunch, pill, or shot can seem to do for someone now, the consequences are often dire later. As I say, “A Happy Meal, in the long-term, never made anyone happy.”
I became a lifetime Chiropractic patient the moment I understood this principle. It is simply how the body is made to work. God made us so that the Central Nervous System controls all functions and healing. Thus, we should do as little as possible to interfere with the nervous system. Unfortunately, due to the stresses in our life, spinal problems are common and likely to happen. The moment subluxation (misalignment or improper curvatures of the spine) exists, I’m out of step with God’s plan and in danger; CAUSE - EFFECT.  If I pop a pill, ingest chemicals on a frequent basis, and do many of the other damaging things people do with their lifestyle . . .I’m pushing my luck and cutting myself off from the health, longevity, and vitality God intended.
It isn’t about perfect living. Yet, let’s be the unique, conscious few. Let’s be people of conscience. If you want to experience what Jesus says in John 10:10 and have life IN ALL OF ITS FULLNESS, then you must not only believe in Him, but also think of Him when you make decision for your life, your body, and your health . . .as well as that of others.
Getting back in step with God’s plan is not only good for you now, it’s great for you later. It’s the way we save the world.

Live well,

Dr. Ben
