THE EXPONENTIAL EFFECT OF BEING “MISSION-BASED”

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”
- 1 Peter 4:10

The Bible says that God gives us the desires of our hearts (Ps. 37:4). If you’re breathing, God still has a big plan for you and He’s likely given you something important that you desire to do.  Something that is about changing the world.
At the core of the concept is the mission-based business. God has given us an assignment and, just like a mid-term paper, God forbid we don’t complete the assignment. I don’t want an “F” on this paper.
Assignment is mission. Mission is more powerful than work and more impactful; it’s your big part of a big God who has called you to do big things. What I have experienced personally and through coaching, counseling, mentoring, and consulting is that the impact you can make in work gets multiplied when that work becomes a mission.
MISSION ADDS A ZERO
When you’re on, as the Blues Brothers used to say, “A mission from God,” there is an exponential effect, there’s a multiplier. The Bible eludes to this when it tells us, “I will go before you and will level the mountains; I will break down gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron.” (Isaiah 45:2)
Being on a mission is certainly not about the money, but to explain this concept, let's look at the mindset of “adding a zero” to your business. If you are only capable of a $10,000-a-year business, but you are on mission, then God can add a zero and make that a $100,000-a-year business. If you are capable of getting to $100,000 in one year, then your mission-based business is capable of adding a zero and becoming a $1 million business.
People power can add to a business. They can go from 100 to 200 to 300 by adding 100 at a time. On the other hand, God multiplies a mission-based business. You can go from 100 to 10,000 to 1,000,000 if instead of adding 100 you multiply by 100. See that difference? Where addition gets you to 300, multiplication gets you to a million. Just do the math—learn the value of a mission-based business and live by multiplication rather than addition.
A mission-based business conquers injustices, saves lives, makes the world a better place, and all initiatives are done with one ultimate goal in mind; to glorify God and focus every eye upon Jesus. Mission not only works, it never fails.
